I used to work as a pre-need counselor for a large corporate funeral company. What this means is I made a living convincing people it was important to make their arrangements in advance, and then making those arrangements with them to secure future business for the company I worked with. I had very mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I actually do believe preplanning is of great value. One should definitely give consideration to what they would like done and discuss this with family before everyone is in shock and making emotionally based decisions. On the other hand, the corporate interests were not so great.
