I’ve seen collages on easels, albums on a table with the guest book, framed photos placed on stands between the flower arrangements at a formal visitation, photos on the covers of memorial service programs, even a slide show with music at one memorial service. One family placed a portrait on the lid of the closed casket between two small floral arrangements. At a memorial service recently a large portrait was displayed atop a small stepladder next to the speakers’ podium. One of the eulogies mentioned that the deceased had used that ladder at the age of 80, when she was still doing her own wallpapering. That’s the sort of thing that personalizes a memorial service and makes everyone smile through the tears.
